The Student Radio Conference Podcasts

#SRAcon Podcasting TeamIt’s been almost a month since the Student Radio Conference at De Montfort University, Leicester, hosted by Demon FM.

It was a fantastic three days, where I met lots of people from student radio stations across the country as well as several businesses and organisations which are out there to assist student radio.

Whilst I was there I was part of the Podcasting team and we went to lots of sessions to get just a flavour of what was on offer.

I managed to get several podcasts together, which were then posted on the Student Radio Association Audioboo account.

You can listen to the podcasts below.

The Finished Honorary Degrees Radio Documentary!

It’s finally finished!

I’ve been working on this radio documentary for my final year project since September last year and it’s finally ready.

It’s only really come together in the past couple of weeks; I spent about three days editing together my raw interviews, sourcing my vox pops and then recording my own lines.

Recording my own lines was probably the worst, as I’m not always great at ready scripts and when I write them I tend to make grammar and spelling mistakes. I believe one 1 minute line took about 7 minutes to get!

The radio documentary is about honorary degrees, why we have them and what difference it makes to students, if any!

I posted about making the radio documentary in February, just before I interviewed Esther Rantzen and Benjamin Zephaniah.

The target broadcast would be on BBC Radio 2, in the 10:30am Saturday slot.

So here it is for you to listen to.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Doing the Student Radio Conference Podcast

Next week it’s the Student Radio Conference and I’m part of the podcasting team!

Also known as the SRA Con, it’s a three day event where students from stations all across of the UK come together to learn each other and also meet industry professionals. This year it’s taking place at De Montfort University, hosted by Demon FM.

There are five of us on the podcasting team who will aim to cover everything and anything that happens at the conference.

So in the first podcast the team introduce themselves and also reveal some more big names in radio to be attending the conference!

You can listen to the podcast on the Student Radio Conference Tumblog at blog.studentradio.org.uk/post/46415350491/in-this-podcast-we-introduce-the-podcast-team-for

All the podcasts will be available from the Tumblog and tweeted using the Twitter hashtag #SRAcon.

And if you’ve listened to the podcast and wondered what I looked like in that Tulip costume, here’s a photo!
